北京・亦荘エリアへの出張の際、近隣の高級ホテルをいくつか比較検討した結果、栄華南路のAVICプラザ（中航広場）に位置する「Grand Skylight International Hotel Beijing」を選びました。亦荘の中心部に位置する老舗の5つ星ホテルであり、地下鉄「栄昌東街」駅から徒歩約300メートルという好立地に加え、亦荘国際会展中心（コンベンションセンター）や同仁医院南区へのアクセスも良く、ビジネス利用に最適です。
回転ドアを抜けると、天井の高いロビーが広がっており、航空宇宙産業をイメージしたさりげないアクセントが、威厳あるビジネスホテルの雰囲気を醸し出しています。このデザインは、AVICプラザという複合施設全体の空気感とも見事に調和しています。チェックインはスムーズで、スタッフからは朝食会場やプールの利用時間について丁寧な案内がありました。私が宿泊した「スーペリア・キング」の客室は約45平方メートルの広さがあり、バランスの取れたレイアウトでした。床から天井まである大きな窓はBDAロータリーに面しており、自然光がたっぷりと差し込みます。築浅ではありませんが、客室はよく手入れされており、不快な臭いなども一切ありませんでした。乾燥しがちな北部の気候において、標準装備の加湿器は実用的でありがたい設備でしたし、寝具の硬さと柔らかさのバランスも絶妙で快適でした。防音性も十分で、夜はぐっすりと休むことができました。
